Green credentials – and making the best choices for the planet – should be at the forefront of fleet managers’ decision-making when calculating a fleet’s actual whole life cost.
But, being environmentally-sound means looking far beyond the running costs and purchase price of your fleet.
To truly support decisions around climate change and clean air, fleet managers need to be able to assess the real impact of the manufacturing process, shipping and the sourcing of car parts.
Total Motion’s Actual Whole Life Cost system is the only system in Europe able to calculate the environmental implications of running a fleet. And, by adding this function to your current dataset covering cost, reliability and sustainability, we can help decision makers to be as sympathetic to the planet as possible.
Our AWLC system was first developed in 1998, and, since that time, it has proved to be the most accurate and transparent whole life cost system in Europe.
It plays a crucial role in assisting our customers with issues such as which manufacturers and vehicles to select, which funding products to use, what time period and/or mileage should be applied to life cycles and contracts and how vehicle grading works.
It also helps clients with setting and developing cash allowances and flexible benefits, identifying driver and vehicle trends and budgeting. With a maximum variance of +/- 3%, no other system can provide this level of accuracy.
The Actual Whole Life Cost calculator covers depreciation, corporation tax, capital allowances and National Insurance Contributions, service, maintenance and repair spend (SMR), non-scheduled repair spend (accident damage, glass replacement etc.) and finance costs
It also allows for fuel, road fund licence, return on funds, recovery services, average unrecoverable costs per vehicle, administration costs and vehicle usage.
Unlike other fleet management providers, Total Motion uses updated data, not estimates or calculations based upon leasing rentals, with our dataset drawn from a vast range of sources. Our data comes from fuel and fuel card suppliers, contract hire and leasing suppliers, insurers and brokers, vehicle manufacturers, ICME repair times and costs, Rospa (the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) and the DfT (Department of Transport).
It is also calculated by looking at finance house net rates, residual values from auctions, dealers and our own disposals department, the historic maintenance spend from our own database of vehicles and that of more than 100 large fleet operators – and more than 1.9 million live UK and European vehicles.
Simon Hill, managing director of Total Motion said: “In order to reduce their fleets’ carbon footprint, it is essential fleet managers calculate the true environmental impact of every vehicle leasing or purchasing decision they make.
“By using the data available via our AWLC system, they can make clear and informed choices which are not only better for their business but kinder to the planet.”
