Total Motion has, over the past few months, been heavily involved in BHF’s Sports Dinner, Cycling Challenge, Golf Day and Great North Run, which together have raised more than £70,000.
And, in addition to assisting with fundraising, we have played an equally important part in helping BFH raise awareness of organ donation. Media coverage, particularly from the Great North Run, was, said BHF, “beyond anything we could have wished for” and will make a huge impact on “starting the conversation.”
BHF was originally established by Nick Hodges from Leicester in memory of his baby son Bodie. Ten-month-old Bodie died following a choking accident in 2012 and his organs were donated to save the lives of four children.
Nick’s original aim was to raise funds to buy a holiday home for families who have lost a child, and three years ago Bodie’s Boathouse was opened on Tallington Lakes in Lincolnshire. The charity now supports around 30 bereaved families a year by giving them chance to spend time away at the lodge.
Another key objective of BHF’s work is to raise awareness of organ donation, and, as part of this aim BHF is delivering organ donation workshops at Leicester and Leicestershire schools and businesses.
Paul Taylor, operations manager at Bodie Hodges Foundation, said “We have had a period of unprecedented success and we simply wouldn’t have been able to do it without the incredible help of Simon Hill and his team.
“Thanks to Total Motion, we have been able to raise over £70,000 which is an amazing amount of money. This will allow us to keep supporting families at Bodie’s Boathouse, hopefully giving them the time to reflect and start to get back on their feet. The feedback we are getting from our families is that the work we do is making a significant impact, helping them to feel more positive as they look to the future. Time at the Boathouse is helping change lives for the better, which is a tremendously powerful thing to be able to say.”
Simon Hill, Total Motion’s managing director, said he was delighted that BHF’s work was enjoying such success.
He added: “We’re proud to support this remarkable charity, and to learn that our involvement is helping BHF to build on its amazing work. It’s good to know that so many families are benefiting as a result of spending time at Bodie’s Boathouse, and that the charity is also helping raise awareness of organ donation.”
