Pedalling For Peyton | Mission Accomplished!
After all of the training, preparation and hard work, we managed to complete our very anticipated 118-mile charity bike ride from Leicester to Sheringham on Saturday 16th June!
The cycle took place to help raise money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital and our employee Jamie Rowley’s little daughter Peyton’s treatment, who suffers from a rare deletion to chromosome 17q12.
This condition is so rare, that Peyton is the only known person in the medical data base, which is connected to all countries with an advanced genetics department.
Out of the 19 riders, only three didn’t finish the actual ride due to picking injuries up along the way, it was an amazing effort by everybody involved.
The race commenced from the Cow & Plough in Oadby and the cyclists made stops roughly every 30 miles for a refuel and refreshments.
The stops were made at The Crown in Great Casterton, Beijing Palace in Fleet Hargate and finally The Dabbling Duck in Great Massingham, then finally finishing at The Crown Inn in Sheringham. We’d like to say a huge thank you to all of the stops for letting us use their facilities!
We’d also like to say a massive thank you to the Sandicliffe Ford Transit Centre in Leicester for helping us out with a Ford Transit to assist our support team, Nick from City Cycles for his mechanic support on such short notice, Michelin for providing goodie bags for the riders and also ATS for their contribution towards refuelling the riders for the day.
We have currently raised just under a phenomenal £7,000 on our JustGiving page, we were aiming to raise £5,000 so we’ve smashed this target! Thank you to every single one of you who have donated. This money will go towards the medical treatment of Peyton and the Birmingham Children’s Hospital!
We’d like to thank everybody else who supported us for the ride, whether it was taking part in the cycle, donating, supporting on the day, or just helping us in anyway, it is really appreciated, and we couldn’t have done it without you all.
If you haven’t donated yet, we are leaving the JustGiving page live until Friday 20th July, so you can still donate via the link below. All donations will be greatly appreciated and going towards a wonderful cause!
