Make and Model:
Volkswagen Golf GTE
Introduction/Overview:
A tax beater in the form of one of the most popular cars in the UK when it comes to style and image. This hybrid/petrol combination provides business users with a perfect scenario of low tax, style and comfort all in the shape of a VW Golf.
Exterior:
The exterior is very similar to a GT Golf, apart from an additional E added on the end. There is blue trimming to provide a cool look but most of all, the charging port is the badge on the front which opens up and looks really smart.
Interior:
Interior choice, if you can afford upgrade to leather as the standard cloth looks horrible. A Scottish influence which the Scots would not be grateful for.
Engine/Power:
1.4 TSI Hybrid Battery 201BHP
Ride and Handling:
Drives like you would expect a Golf to, almost perfectly for the type of vehicle. It isn’t a GTI but you have to sacrifice something to be able to get 39g/km CO2. The acceleration will not disappoint though, it will get off the line and will overtake with ease so don’t let that put you off.
The Competition:
Audi A3 e-tron, Toyota Prius, VW Golf diesel engines and the hot hatch company car market.
Closing Thoughts:
This is a brilliant company car for those people fortunate to have one, if you aren’t so bothered about tax and want more excitement then look at the VW Golf GTD. I will be considering this for my next company car for the savings that are to be had, but like always if you talk to Total Motion we will assess your options and provide alternatives that we think will best suit you.
Overall Score (Out of 5):
